WiTT’s June meeting once again featured a screening of selected presentations from TED, TED Global, and TEDx events that look at how women (and some men) use, influence, and create technology and technology-based solutions.
Our meeting was held in the auditorium of the Deloitte Academy. We’d like to thank Deloitte for hosting our meeting and sharing their fantastic space with us.
Here are links to the talks we showed:
Sarah Jones: One woman, five characters, and a sex lesson from the future
Lorrie Faith Cranor: What’s wrong with your pa$$w0rd?
Elora Hardy: Magical houses, made of bamboo
Monica Lewinsky: The price of shame
Dame Stephanie Shirley: Why do ambitious women have flat heads?
(Steve’s book is called “Let IT Go.”)
Our next meeting will be on September 28th, at the Foundling Museum (http://foundlingmuseum.org.uk). The meeting is timed to follow the launch of a new art exhibition at the museum, on the theme of The Fallen Woman. We plan to have a couple of speakers who will talk around this theme in the age of the internet and social media. We hope to see you there!
